Momentum for meetings began at the It Takes A Village: Voices for Equity & Belonging Summit on December 1, 2018.

The original VIEW committee, co-facilitated by Staff at EWSD and the Essex Community Justice Center, began meeting September 2019.

The committee brainstormed areas that need to be addressed and better understood in order to create a community in which every member has the opportunity to be successful.

More than 200 action ideas were listed by 80 summit participants and VIEW is now turning these ideas into action.

In August 2021, VIEW officially became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit allowing the organization access to funding through grants and donations.

Through collaboration with community partners, VIEW hosts in-person and virtual events such as cultural celebrations, book reads, potlucks, and movie screenings.
