Screening of Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution
Voices for Inclusion in Essex and Westford invites you to a screening of Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution. This documentary tells the story of Camp Jened, a summer camp for teenagers with disabilities that transformed young people’s lives and ignited a landmark movement for disability justice.
RSVP:
This film is about the emotional experience of finding community (and finding yourself!) for the first time, and the power of realizing that a better life is possible through social change. The teens at “Crip Camp” found–and founded–their culture at Camp Jened, and we invite you to do the same. By screening this film for our neighbors in Essex, Essex Junction, and Westford, we hope to uplift the stories of people with disabilities and recognize the invaluable contributions they make to our shared community. We also wish to recognize the importance of disability advocacy and the value of creating spaces that genuinely include all of us.
Should you require any accommodations, please be sure to indicate them in your registration or contact us at info@voices4inclusion.org. Note that closed captioning will be enabled, and we strongly encourage that attendees wear masks and ask that you stay home if you are feeling unwell. Given that this is a program focused on disability justice and equitable access, this is a way to ensure everyone in our community can attend with greater safety and ease.
We would also like to advise audience members that this film is rated R. Should you have any questions or concerns about whether this is appropriate for you or your family to view, we encourage you to consult cripcamp.org and Common Sense Media to learn more about the film and its rating.
